Li Ka Shing Foundation For Gender and Women's Studies

The Li Ka Shing Foundation Fund for Gender and Women's Studies was set up in 2007. The purpose of this Fund is to support the Department of Gender and Women's Studies and its affiliated unit, the Beatrice Bain Research Group (BBRG), at the University of California, Berkeley. There are three objectives of this support:
  • To support conferences, public lectures and workshops, with an emphasis on transnational feminist studies (More information)
  • To support collaborative research between scholars from UC Berkeley and from China on Women and Science in China and elsewhere; the research will seek to understand and ameliorate conditions that perpetuate the underrepresentation of women in science (More information)
  • To bring visiting scholars to the university whose work is focused on gender research and teaching from China, to be in residence at the BBRG (More information)
